They aid officers in incorporating alternate activities outside their careers in their daily lives. Because the police force statistically contains the highest suicide rates in the United States, any stress relief is appreciated. These events allow officers to disconnect from that stress regularly, which can be an important adjunct to therapy.

When they sense they’re part of a larger unit officers begin to feel that they can indeed make a difference. By meeting with units from other parts of the world to compete, they are made to feel that way. This increases motivation for those who have begun to feel they can’t make much of a difference in their neighborhoods.

It’s vital that officers have activities that aren’t part of their careers. Law enforcement games give them hobbies and comradeship. Some of these competitions have as many as 10,000 participants, which is almost as many as the Olympics has.
