The Identakey stores everything about your child – fingerprint scans, photos, medical records, and vital statistics. It can be used to create an ID card, posters of your child, and more. All you need to do is plug it into any computer’s USB port. The Identakey software then starts up, making it very easy to add, update, and access the information stored on it. The software outlines a step by step process that anyone can use.

It’s perfect for your family emergency kit, and you’ll certainly want to take it with you on family vacations. Of course, you can always keep your Identakey key chain on your key ring so you have it handy at all times. What’s more, the Identakey is a delightfully affordable child safety product, as well as being very easy to use. Plus, you can use it for anyone, not just children – those with health issues may want to keep their medical records on hand, and it can also be used for the elderly.

A child Safety Alarm Puts an end to the Leash

As the holiday season approaches, a shopping trip to the mall is an inevitable chore that every parent must face.  And year after year, the hustle and bustle of this season brings out hordes of people.  A crowded shopping mall is a location with a very high potential to lose your child.  Technology has an answer.  We had the  pleasure of trying out a product called the Child Guard Panda, a child safety alarm.  The wrist strap portion, shaped like a panda, is definitely geared towards kids.  Our niece thought that it was an early gift from Santa and had no problem wearing it and keeping it on.  The adult portion is shaped like a key fob, and fit comfortably in our pocket.  The device works by selecting a distance, between 6 and 30 feet.  If the panda wrist strap and the key fob are separated further than the selected distance, your key fob receiver makes a constant beeping noise, letting you know that your child is wandering.  The Child Guard Panda is a small investment in child safety that both you and your child will enjoy.

We Need to Think More Clearly about Child Safety

Can someone please explain to me, how it can be that after all these years, state and local police can still do safety inspections of child safety car seats and keep finding that they haven’t been installed properly?  Come on people. What are you thinking?  I admit that some of the safety products seem to be going a little over the deep edge, but child car seats are not one of them.

Booster seats are the same.  Did you know that children in booster seats are 59% less likely to be injured in the event of a car crash than children who are not wearing them? Its simply because cars and seat belts are not designed for children. They are designed for adults and without booster seat its difficult for a child to get a fit that will protect them. But not all seats fit the same and we keep buying them they’re  a one size fits all concept.  Again we need to use child safety products properly of they won’t help.  But then, sometimes I still hear about children who are not even wearing seat belts in the first place.  My son was always a big kid and by the time he was 7 it was a constant battle to keep him in the back seat, because apparently, with the advent of air bags the front seat isn’t safe for kids.  But let me tell you something I discovered while digging through the statistics.  Of all the children who were reportedly harmed by air bags in the front seat (it was about 22 of them at the time, all but one were not wearing a seat belt.  That means that when the airbags went off, their heads were already in contact with the dashboard.

When will we ever learn?

Door & Window Safety

Since children travel at speeds faster than light, we can’t always keep our eyes on them at all times.  But often, it’s just as important to know where they are NOT as to know where they are.

That’s where door and window alarms can be of help.  Simple door braces for sliding glass doors can ensure that your little ones can’t escape into the back yard without your knowledge.

Easy to install window alerts will sound an alarm if a window is opened or broken or even jostled quite a bit letting you know your kids are messing where they shouldn’t be.

These inexpensive child safety products can keep your kids from being where they are NOT supposed to be.

Protecting your Child at Home

Many women and men are Physical Therapists in Arizona as well as loving parents.  And, while they are very dedicated to their profession, being away from home means their Child’s Safety is in someone else’s hands.

One important way parents can protect their children is to do some basic Child Proofing with Home Safety Products.  Of course, protection for your Pool in the form of a gate, fencing, cover and perhaps a Pool Alarm, goes without saying.  But inside your home there are many ways to keep your kids safe too.

Be aware of your child’s reach (it may surprise you) and keep unsafe items further onto the countertops or hidden in cabinets secured by latches.  This is not only true in the bathroom for medications but in the kitchen and other living areas as well.

Even older toddlers and children tend to be fascinated with electrical outlets.  These can be inexpensively secured by using basic outlet covers.

If your young toddler is just beginning to walk or your older kids get a little rambunctious, consider using Corner Cushions on the sharp edges of your tables and cabinets.

Even a doorknob can be a source of injury for a small child’s head but can be protected with simple Doorknob covers.

There are Kits for Child Protection that contain several of each of these important items so keeping your Children Safe at home doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive.

Perfect zoo weather

Spring has sprung!  And for any parent with younger children that usually means a trip (or several) to the zoo.

We love taking our boys to the zoo.  But, keeping track of them is quite a  challenge.  They don’t want to be confined in a stroller or wagon but in a crowd, they could easily get lost and out of our sight before we even realize it.

One terrific product that can help with Child Safety is the Panda remote monitor.  Your child (or grandchild) wears the cute panda shaped transmitter around his wrist or attached to his clothing.  You carry the small receiver.  Simply set the receiver for a predetermined distance (from 6-30 feet) and if he breaks that barrier, an alarm sounds keeping you aware of his location at all times.  Simple!

We at Azapta (formerly the Arizona Physical Therapy Association) believe that the best Child Safety & Security Products are easy to use as well as extremely effective and a bonus in this case is how inexpensive it is.

So, head out to the zoo and enjoy the day with your kids in this perfect spring weather.

Azapta & Child Pool Safety

Now that the weather is getting warm-and in my location, hot! Azapta (formerly Arizona Physical Therapy Association) would like to remind all parents to PLEASE be extra mindful of your Child’s Safety around the pool.

Besides the obvious fences and pool coverings, you can do a lot to protect your children from drowning by using a few simple Child Safety Products.  One idea is to install a Pool Alarm.  These easy to install safety devices will sound an ear piercing alarm inside and out if someone (or even a pet) falls into your unattended pool.

Consider a Wireless Home Alarm that will alert you if your Child breaks the barriers (window and door sensors) you’ve set up.

Another alternative is to install a Security Camera outside facing your pool.  If you’re in the office working, you can keep an extra close eye on this dangerous area.

Implementing one or all of these Child Safety Product suggestions could be life-saving.
