Though it is common to host a fancy dress party at big occasions throughout the year; such as Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s, they don’t have to be just for this. After all, it is always great fun to see just how outrageous your friends can look, or beautiful of course.
Let’s be honest here, parties take place through the year, and there is no reason why one of these birthdays, retirement or even anniversary events shouldn’t have fancy dress as part of the package. Indeed, hosting such an event will more often than not add to the experience immeasurably.
A common option to go for is a formal Black Tie party; where everyone is dressed in their finest evening gowns and dress suits. Equally stunning, are the Venetian Balls; complete with mysterious masks and full of decadence. It is also not uncommon for these to get a little risque which adds a certain something!
Alternatively, if something a little off the wall is your thing; tying the theme into current local or worldwide events could de great fun. Climate and environment parties are popular presently, and they give a chance for fun and forum to be had at the same time.
Occasionally however, there are those invited guests that do not quite enter into the spirit of things. A couple of ideas to get around this are having a competition for the best outfit, or perhaps better still; forfeits for those that just don’t come up to standard.
Fancy dress parties have long been the preserve of the kids, but there is no reason for this to be the case. Adults are just as entitled to have a bit of fun, if not more so, so perhaps it is time to start organizing your gig?
A fancy dress party and fancy dress hire always brings forth memories of excitement and good times for many; be it seeing how fab or stupid your friends really can look. We've got the ultimate inside information on fancy dress hire .

If you’ve got the Voice Alert System 6, a great wireless home security alarm, you know just how effective it is in protecting your home. However, if you have a large home, you may find that you need more infra-red motion detectors than the system comes with. To that end, you can purchase additional voice alert sensors to spread around your home. These voice alert sensors have a 1000’ range when they’re placed in an open room, or they have a range of up to 300 feet if they have to transmit through solid walls. These small sensors are very easy to install. You just place one of the infra-red motion detectors near your windows and doors or so that they create a beam across walkways. When something breaks the beam, the Voice Alert System 6 will set off an alarm. You can have up to six different infra-red sensor units at once.
One of the great things about these voice alert sensors is that you can easily move them around as you see fit. If you decide you need more security at the front of your home, just move a few sensors there. If you want to put them around your backyard, just move them outdoors. The possibilities are endless, and the security is absolute. You need to keep your home safe for your kids and this is one thing to help you do that.

If the baby monitor you already have doesn’t seem to be enough to meet your needs and you want to watch your child more closely, a baby monitor wireless camera. Actually if you want, you can re-purpose a regular home security camera to use as a baby monitor.
Your first decision is to determine which type of monitor will best suit your needs. Take for example a dome security camera. It fixes into the ceiling and will allow you to see a full 360 degrees. A night vision baby monitor wireless camera is another option that will allow you to watch your little one at any time of the day or night. A camera that you can power with batteries is also a great innovation because in a power failure when there is so much else to occupy your mind, at least you’ll know your little one is OK.
There is also the question of how many monitors you’ll want and where to put them. Probably you’ll have one in your bedroom, another in the kitchen and maybe one in the living room or your office too.
Like the regular home security camera, you can re purpose existing monitors to be part of your child safety system. Position the camera in your baby’s room carefully, so you can see as much as possible, but make sure it’s well out of reach.
You’ll also want to be certain that not only have you positioned your equipment to be able to see, but you’ll want to hear as well.

Walking through the neighborhood last weekend I stumbled across something I hadn’t seen in a long time, a girl who could not have been more than 5 was sitting at a chair and table at the sidewalk in front of her house with a lemonade stand.
It wasn’t five cents anymore although I was willing to invest 50 just because she looked so excited to make a sale. It was pink lemonade and a little bit too sweet, but I’m not writing to give a food review. What really caught my attention was in this day and age when parents are completely freaked out about molesters and kidnappers, this little girl was sitting – apparently alone- in front of her house, engaging strangers in conversation. It’s not something that you see very often these days. It crossed my mind that her parents must be mad to let her do this and then I looked around.
Mom was outside, she was around the side of the house with an uninterrupted view although our junior entrepreneur couldn’t see her. There was a teenage boy sitting on a chair on the other side of the house, watching. A neighbor across the street was on her front porch, apparently doing nothing, but as I turned I could see that she was watching me like a hawk. And an older woman working in her garden next door had a clear field of view. And every one of them was keeping an eye on this little girl while she started to develop her own sense of independence and self reliance.
I never realized that I lived in such a great neighborhood.

Do you have to walk across a dark parking lot at night? Is your home surrounded by trees or other obstacles that could hide someone? If so, you may feel unsafe when walking around in the dark. While mace may help protect you, if you can’t get it aimed in time, it won’t do much good. However, the electronic pocket whistle personal safety alarm can alert others that you are in need of assistance. Just press the button and it lets out a 120 decibel noise, bringing everyone nearby running. It’s also great for locating others when you go camping or hiking. The safety alarm is more than just a product for women, however; it’s also a good child safety product as long as your child knows to only use it in emergencies and that it’s not a toy. The entire whistle is small enough to fit in your pocket, in a purse, or in your backpack.

Many people install cameras in their nursery to keep an eye on their baby. Keeping children safe is, after all, the primary goal of every parent. However, one of the issues with many security cameras is that they only give you one set view of the room. You can only see what’s right in front of the camera, and sometimes, that’s just not enough. That’s where the wireless pan & tilt camera and monitor comes into play. The camera wirelessly transmits video and sound to your small portable monitor. The monitor also features several buttons that allow you to rotate the camera 270 degrees side to side and 120 degrees up and down. This allows you to see almost the entire room. If the room is dark, the camera automatically goes into night vision mode. The camera itself weights less than a pound, allowing you to easily mount it anywhere in the room. It needs to be plugged in, but the receiver works on 4 AAA batteries, so you can take it anywhere. This is a versatile nursery camera and monitor and a great value.

It never fails—you’re in the grocery store or the mall and you turn away from your child for just one little minute…and when you turn back, they’re gone! It’s every parent’s worst nightmare, but it doesn’t have to be. With this child locator, the Giggle Bug, you won’t have to fear losing your child again. This child safety device works just like the emergency alarm on your car: you have a remote, and you attach the other end of the Giggle Bug to your child. If you lose them, simply press the button on the remote and the device attached to your child will start beeping. It also beeps if it is removed from your child’s clothing. This lets you know if your kid is trying to get away from you or if a stranger detaches the device. It also has a battery light that warns you if the device is running out of power. It has a range of about 100 feet, which is pretty good. If your child has a habit of wandering off, this device is ideal.
You can buy the Giggle Bug from Your Best Defense – on the blogroll.

Her job as a Physical Therapist in Arizona is to see to the rehabilitation of her patients so that they can continue with their lives without worry of reinjury-ie. safely.
Her job as a Mom isn’t much different. A Mom’s job is to raise her child with morality, discipline, love and confidence so that they can go out into the world and live their life safely.
Of course, part of growing up is making mistakes. It has often been said that we learn more from our mistakes than we do from our successes. I find that to be true with my children. As long as I help them see what it is they should be learning from each mistake.
Mistakes will happen, there is no doubt. But raising our Children to live and thrive with Safety has got to be one of the most important goals of parenting. At least it is for me.
